FeedForward - Barefoot & Naked

FeedForward is a Dutch progband that was founded in 2002. During the first years of their existence, Biejanka (v) and her boys took all the time they needed to create a style of their own, which can be described as a catchy mix of progrock and melodic metal. Through gigs in support of acts like The Gathering, Epica and Enchant, the band managed to build up an impressive fan base in their home country and in 2005/2006 they recorded their debut album, “Barefoot & Naked”, at The Pit in Weert, under the guidance of producer Hans Reinders. Beautifully packaged, “Barefoot & Naked” counts a total of ten songs – nine vocal tracks and one instrumental – that show the band’s potential. Don’t expect a classical and/or bombastic voice from front lady Biejanka, but a rather normal flowing one, that sounds quite agreeable overall. I guess that’s one of the reasons why the progressive rock of this band sounds so accessible, in spite of the sometimes complex arrangements. All band members are performing well and the production is fingerlickin’ good, so all is in place to enjoy one of Holland’s newest bands on the scene. No wonder Rusty Cage Records picked up the album and re-released it after the first wave of positive reviews. A good start, so I’m sure we’ll hear more of Biejanka and her boys in the future.
