FeedForward - Barefoot & Naked

With Barefood & Naked the Dutch band Feed Forward releases their second full album. The band was formed in 2002, the debut album Stop to Think was released in 2004. Actually Barefood & Naked was released previous in 2007. Due to the positive reviews of the album and the live gigs, the band signed a record deal with Rusty Cage Records in March 2008. So far the facts, now the more interesting site of FeedForward; the songs.
Barefood & Naked is best described as progressive rock with psychedelic and metal influences. Singer of the band is Biejanka. Her vocals sound sometimes heavy and powerful then again melancholic. Especially with the psychedelic progressive songs like Fade away, her voice fits very well with the music. The vocals are quite comparable with the former singer of Autumn, Nienke. The album is rather varied, from a piano ballad to metal, from psychedelic to progressive. Most songs take more than 5:30; exception is the short piano ballad Our Sky (For One Time). Piano and keyboards are very important for the different atmospheres on the album together with the heavy riffs of Mario a solid foundation is laid for the melodic songs.
Run the Race is a song with great bass guitar playing, together with 143 they are the most heavy songs. Moving needs to be mentioned separately; this instrumental song takes more than 7 minutes and is performed very well, one of those instrumental songs that isn’t boring at all. Besides this song Barefood & Naked has some great other songs. Fade Away and Crossing The Line are great progressive psychedelic rock songs.
The production is great, a clear sound and still heavy. So all in one Barefood & Naked is worth buying for fans of progressive rock.
Score 85/100
